Following our Chapter Leadership conference earlier this year, many activities have centered on the plight of small practice survival and growth.

Meetings have been held with the New York State Commissioner of Health, and a variety of suggestions have been exchanged which would allow the State to focus on the needs of small practices relating to Health Information Technology, technical assistance for Patient Centered Medical Home certification, patient centered care and the potential for shared services between independent practices.

The Chapter also worked with the United Hospital Fund (UHF) and the Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) to sponsor the fourth in a series of annual conferences to seek long term sustainability of patient centered care and payor alignment. The goal of the meeting was to produce a series of action steps that providers, payers and policy-makers should take to spur the growth and sustainability of patient centered care and to achieve a more effective and efficient health system for all New Yorkers.

The Chapter’s PCMH Committee continues to monitor the development of medical homes across New York State.
