New Updated Pain Managment Course

New Updated Pain Management Course:

Managing Pain and Opioid Use:  An Educational Program on Compliance with NYS Prescribing Laws

The Chapter is pleased to announce that NYACP’s Pain Management Task Force completed their work, conducted in 2025, by updating the final 1-hour NY Module. The entire NYACP/BU opioid training program, mandated by the State of New York in 2016, continues to be available to all licensed prescribers who renew their 3-year NYS mandatory training or take the training course for the first time.

Educational objectives for the final training hour (1-hour NY Module) are:

  • Describe New York State/Federal legislative updates regarding prescribing opioids and naloxone and certifying for medical cannabis.
  • Explain relevant issues related to opioid use, opioid use disorder, and opioid overdose.
  • Describe palliative care, palliative symptom management, and communication tools for end-of-life decision making and advance directive planning.

To access the NYACP/BU 2-hour Scope of Pain course and the additional 1-hour NY Module for a total of 3-hours of NYS mandated CME opioid-pain training, here is the link to use which is contained on NYACP’s website: Pain Management Course

NYACP would also like to recognize all members of the Pain Management Task Force who did a SUPERB job (to say the least) of reviewing and updating the prior version of the 1-hour CME NY Module:
