A Message from NYACP Leadership: Reconnecting Our Colleagues Through CMIP

Since the beginning of 2026, NYACP has been participating in ACP’s Chapter Member Incentive Program (CMIP), a collective effort to re-engage colleagues who have been identified by ACP as a lapsed member and in need of paying their dues.

This year’s CMIP campaign included two emails to approximately 1600 lapsed members from the Chapter and personal contacts by Council Board and Member Engagement Committee members.  The January CMIP Campaign focused strictly on post-training physicians. A similar campaign is being planned for April 2026.

Maintaining a strong and engaged membership is essential to NYACP’s ability to deliver high-quality educational programs, advocate for internal medicine physicians, and foster meaningful professional connections across New York State. Reconnecting and re-engaging lapsed members helps ensure the continued strength of the NY Chapter and the College as a whole.

NYACP’s approach will emphasize peer-to-peer outreach, supported by national and Chapter resources. Chapter leaders, committee members, and early career physicians will be reaching out to colleagues to share how ACP and NYACP membership continues to provide value—through high quality educational programming, CME activities, the College’s premier journal Annals of Internal Medicine, career development opportunities, and discounted fees for national and chapter meetings.

If you are contacted or asked to assist with outreach, we’d appreciate your assistance and support. A personal conversation from a trusted colleague can make a significant difference.

Thank you for your continued commitment to NYACP and to our shared professional community.

Webinar Recap: Inspiring Co-Creating Safety, Trust, and Belonging

The NYACP Health Equity Ad Hoc Committee recently hosted a powerful and reflective session led by Dr. Mukta Panda, centered on the vital role of psychological safety, trust, and belonging in healthcare and educational environments.

The event created an intentional space for participants to reflect on how these foundational elements influence connection, collaboration, and overall well-being among clinicians, learners, and teams. Through guided discussion and shared learning, attendees explored practical ways to foster environments where individuals feel valued, heard, and supported, along with key drivers toward effective teamwork and equitable care.

Dr. Panda’s presentation emphasized that cultivating psychological safety is not only essential for professional fulfillment but also important for improving patient outcomes and strengthening organizational culture. The session encouraged meaningful engagement and dialogue, in addition to reinforcing the importance of trust and belonging as the cornerstones of resilient and inclusive healthcare systems.
