Member Webinar: Inspiring Leadership Beyond the Clinic 12/11/25
NYACP members recently gathered for a virtual event featuring Dr. Otis Gowdy Jr., who shared the story of his work about restoring the historic Holbrook Building in downtown Meridian, Mississippi. Once a cultural, educational, and economic hub in the African American business district, the Holbrook Building is being revitalized through Dr. Gowdy’s vision and commitment to community preservation.
Attendees were deeply moved by Dr. Gowdy’s journey, and the impact of physician leadership beyond the hospital. Many members left the session inspired to take on greater leadership roles in their own communities, using their skills and influence to drive meaningful and lasting change.
This event reinforced the powerful role physicians can play as advocates, preservationists, and community leaders—both in medicine and beyond.
