Using Your Voice as Physician Advocate

ACP has created a toolkit so that physicians can be better informed and better advocates to patients and their profession. The modules below outline the motivation and potential uses of media and legislative advocacy for internal medicine physicians.

The toolkit is made up of five modules designed as self-contained voiceover PowerPoint presentations by ACP members, which can be viewed either independently or together with the other modules.

On a Statewide Level:

There are many ways to become involved in advocacy at the state and local level.

• Review the NYACP 2026 Legislative Agenda to identify issues that align with your particular interests.
• Review tips for contacting your local elected officials.
• Respond to NYACP’s advocacy Call-to-Action requests -Simple and Easy!
• Attend a virtual Advocacy Town Hall meeting.
• Learn how to write a resolution to impact policy changes.
• Participate in advocacy-related events during NYACP’s Advocacy Week, May 4-8, 2026. Details coming shortly!
• Join  NYACP’s Health and Public Policy Committee.
