William E. Fox, MD, MACP is the Chair Emeritus of the American College of Physicians, representing internal medicine physicians, related subspecialists, and medical students.
A resident of Charlottesville, VA, Dr. Fox is a partner in Fox & Brantley Internal Medicine in Charlottesville, a still independent medical practice. Before entering private practice, he spent five years with the National Health Service Corps at Central Virginia Community Health Center in Buckingham, VA, while simultaneously working as Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Virginia.
Dr. Fox earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, where he received the Anna Marie Chirico Prize for distinguished work in primary care. He completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at the University of Virginia. He has attained Mastership in ACP, the College’s highest honorary designation that recognizes significant impact in practice, leadership, or in medical research.
William E. Fox, MD, MACP, served on ACP’s Board of Regents for the last six years. The Board of Regents manages the business and affairs of ACP and is the main policy-making body of the College. He is a past Chair of ACP's Medical Practice and Quality Committee.
Previously, Dr. Fox served as Chair of ACP’s Board of Governors and prior to that, he served as Governor of ACP’s Virginia Chapter. Dr. Fox has received numerous honors and recognitions including the American College of Physicians Virginia Young Internist of the Year award in 2010, the Paul Florentino Volunteerism Award in 2013 and the Richard Neubauer Advocate for Internal Medicine Award in 2014.

Dr. Kevin Costello is an internal medicine physician and geriatrician based at Albany Medical Center’s Internal Medicine Group. Also director of Albany Medical College’s Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, he specializes in the daily management and continuity of care for elderly patients, with particular focus on their functional status and cognitive ability. He also provides home care for homebound elderly people throughout the eleven counties of the greater Capital Region.
He is a board certified internist and geriatrician. He received a bachelor's degree from Siena College and his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec and a fellowship in geriatric medicine with McGill University and the University of Montreal. He subsequently completed a research fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at Albany Medical College.
At the Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College, Dr. Costello precepts students and has worked on projects focused on advanced care planning in Alzheimer’s disease.
Shari Erickson has worked for ACP since 2007, starting in ACP’s Center for Practice Improvement and Innovation. She was promoted to Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Medical Practice in 2012, taking charge of ACP’s advocacy and policy initiatives related to federal regulatory agencies. Most recently she has been serving as ACP’s Interim Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Public Policy. Erickson takes over her new role as head of ACP’s Washington office from Bob Doherty, who is now ACP’s Special Advisor to the Chief Advocacy Officer and Senior Vice President Emeritus and will be retiring on July 31, 2022.
Before coming to ACP, Erickson was a Senior Program Director with the National Quality Forum (NQF) in Washington, D.C. where she was responsible for managing an array of projects that support NQF’s national strategy for healthcare quality measurement and reporting. Erickson earned a Master of Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2009.
