Following several years of participation in a statewide collaboration, the first MOLST (Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) Executive Committee Meeting was hosted by NYACP on January 22, 2014. A variety of stakeholders participated in the strategic planning session led by Patricia Bomba, MD, FACP.
The MOLST form was created to conform to the procedures and decision-making standards set forth in New York’s Family Health Care Decisions Act.
The recently created Executive Committee met to develop a short-term and long-range strategic plan; examine sustainability needs; set priorities and timelines; define roles & responsibilities for the Executive Committee and the Implementation Team and to discuss the NYS proposed rule on advanced planning.
The MOLST Implementation Team meets regularly to disseminate informa-tion; create a forum for discussion about implementation issues; and to establish a centralized repository of information about MOLST and end-of-life quality of care decisions.
