Governor Andrew Cuomo unveiled his $142.1 billion Executive Budget late last week, and the Chapter has been reviewing the multiple proposals which impact our member practices.

While we are highlighting a number of issues for your attention, we will be posting a more detailed summary on our website Advocacy page at   http://www.nyacp.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3321

The following issues are of interest and importance and will impact the practice of Internal Medicine in New York:

  • Continuation of funds for Doctors Across New York
  • Out of Network Coverage
  • Funding to promote HIT connectivity through SHINY
  • Establishment of Limited Service Clinics within Retail Spaces
  • Changes to Nurse Practitioner Collaboration
  • Extension of 2nd layer of Medical Liability Coverage
  • Extension of HCRA which funds hospitals and supports “public good programs” including GME
  • Elimination of written consent for HIV testing
  • Elimination of some CON requirements for hospitals
  • Elimination of IPRO audits of resident work hours (seen as duplication of ACGME oversight)
